SUSD Tax Credit Recap

Principals, Tax Credit Ambassadors and APT/PTO Presidents,
We want to thank each of you for your hard work and efforts in our School Tax Credit initiative this year.  While we did not reach our desired goal, we did increase our overall intake by roughly 15%.  This is a greater percentage than any other year since School Tax Credits have been instated.  22 of our 33 schools increased their year over year total collections.  A few schools in particular garnered quite impressive results. Cochise Elementary School increased their total by 73%, Hopi Elementary School by 72%, and Coronado High School by 64%.  All told, your marketing push increased School Tax Credit dollars by $316,115.62 for an overall collection amount of 2,536,298.52.

You may recall  we began this initiative mid to late October. So essentially we, as a district, raised 316,000.00 in a month and a half for our schools.  That’s pretty darn good!  Just think what it could have been had we started the process earlier.  Keeping this in mind,  we realize that asking people to write a  400.00/200.00 check right at holiday time is a really big ask.  We have always believed this should be a year round effort so as a result, we are currently working with the district to create a program that can be implemented all year long.  Our goal and intention is to have each of our schools, as well as the District, doing what needs to be done so that our families and communities direct their tax dollars to our schools.  We need to make this process easy, convenient and available to our parents and community throughout the year, not just before Winter Break.  Under the guidance of the District, the desired result is to have School Tax Credits be part of the SUSD culture.

Attached you will find our final 2011 dollar amounts collected for School Tax Credits. Currently we are working on a publication for you to deliver to your school families in April.  We are very proud of your efforts.  We truly cannot thank you enough.
