UPCOMING FOOTBALL EVENTS
  • March 7th, 6:30 pm - Coach Taylor will throw out the first pitch prior to the home varsity baseball game.
  • March 9th, 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm - Coach Taylor is holding a combine for all Arcadia male student-athletes interested in football. The football boosters will provide dinner for all participants.

Arcadia High School is pleased to introduce Kerry Taylor as their new head football coach.  An Arizona resident, Coach Taylor played for Chandler Hamilton High School and Arizona State University prior to playing in the National Football League - including time with the Arizona Cardinals. Coach Taylor brings not just an impressive playing resume with him to Arcadia, but also coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. He is excited for the opportunity to work with the Arcadia student-athletes to build skill, leadership, and character that will lead to success on the field and beyond.

Arcadia Principal Todd Stevens shares, “Coach Taylor will bring an infectious positive attitude to the football program and he will work tirelessly to ensure the best possible experiences for the members of the football team.”

Athletic Director Cher Fesenmaier agrees, “There is an undeniable presence when you’re in the same room with Coach Taylor.  He exudes enthusiasm that is contagious and we couldn’t be more thrilled that Coach Taylor is now an Arcadia Titan!  Many of our student-athletes aspire to where Coach Taylor has been, so his experience at all three levels will serve Arcadia well.”

Scottsdale Unified School District Athletic Director Nathan Slater stated “Coach Taylor will bring instant energy to the Arcadia football program along with NFL playing experience. We feel fortunate to have Kerry join the Scottsdale team.”

The Boys soccer team kicked off their regular season last Wednesday at home against Campo Verde, one of last year’s State Finalists. Both the Varsity and JV teams played tough, but came out on the losing end. JV Coach Gabriele had these comments on the JV’s loss: “Despite having only 3 subs (and no subs due to injury for 15 minutes of second half), JV played very well.  We fought back from being down 0-2 and tied it 2-2.  Then, our players got tired due to lack of subs and lost 2-4.  It was a hard fought game.  I am very proud of how we didn’t give up at all.  Goals were scored by freshman Antonio Clarke and our junior international exchange student, Tákuma Fujiya.
The Titans were back in action on Tuesday at Deer Valley. Results will be reported next week.

  • Adopt A Family/Phoenix Children’s Hospital Holiday Project: The Boys Soccer team, together with the Girls team, adopted a family for the holidays whose son is fighting cancer at Phoenix Children’s hospital.  The family is faced with medical bills and hard times financially in addition to their son’s serious illness.  Adopting a PCH family was an all athletic challenge presented to the Arcadia Sports Teams. Thanks to all of the Boys Soccer players & their families who assisted with this project and helped brighten the holidays for this family in need. WAY TO GO TITANS!

ACADEMIC SUPPORT IS HERE FOR STUDENT ATHLETES

10/24/2017

Arcadia is proud to announce the expansion of the Arcadia GOAL Peer Tutoring to all student athletes.    GOAL, which is short for Growing Our Academic Learning, is a student run tutoring program that is now available to all team sports.   Each team has selected delegates to help facilitate the students in need of support and matching them with fellow students on the team that can tutor in various subjects.  GOAL began two years ago within the Arcadia Soccer Club as a way to help with eligibility within the boys soccer team which had been plagued with grade issues.   Since GOAL was started, every member of the soccer team has been eligible.   Arcadia decided to implement this program school wide this fall and is pioneering this concept within the district.  In addition, GOAL has advanced its technology by implementing Google Classroom, Google Slides, and Google Forms to make GOAL more accessible for student athletes needing help from the delegates/tutors.  Any student athlete needing any type of academic intervention should talk to their coach and/or GOAL delegate.   Tutoring sessions can take place before school, at lunch, or after school at no cost to the student.
