Thank all of our community for coming together to help with the Division II Winter Trophy Tournament.  There were over 300 students and coaches on campus Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd.  It took many people to make this event possible.  We need to give a loud shout out to AHS PTO, Mr. Degroote, Rita’s Italian, Safeway’s bakery, Einstein’s Bagels, and Chick-fil-A for helping us feed the 100+ judges.  We would also like to thank the Beckis, Degroote, Massimi, Walsh families for their kind donations to our concession stand and any families who dropped off donations to us.  A huge shout out to NHS and AASU for welcoming our guests and guiding them to the right classrooms. Special thanks to parent, Pam Walsh, who stepped in as a judge and learned the ropes as she went and parent. Thank you to all the teachers and staff of AHS for sharing their rooms and time with us. The event was a huge success thanks to all of YOU!

Boys Soccer Kicks off Regular Season

UPCOMING GAMES/EVENTS:

Thurs 1/4            (H) Williams Field
Fri 1/5                  @ Verrado (Bus leaves at 2 PM)

The Boys soccer team kicked off their regular season last Wednesday at home against Campo Verde, one of last year’s State Finalists. Both the Varsity and JV teams played tough, but came out on the losing end. JV Coach Gabriele had these comments on the JV’s loss: “Despite having only 3 subs (and no subs due to injury for 15 minutes of second half), JV played very well.  We fought back from being down 0-2 and tied it 2-2.  Then, our players got tired due to lack of subs and lost 2-4.  It was a hard fought game.  I am very proud of how we didn’t give up at all.  Goals were scored by freshman Antonio Clarke and our junior international exchange student, Tákuma Fujiya.
The Titans were back in action on Tuesday at Deer Valley. Results will be reported next week.

  • Adopt A Family/Phoenix Children’s Hospital Holiday Project: The Boys Soccer team, together with the Girls team, adopted a family for the holidays whose son is fighting cancer at Phoenix Children’s hospital.  The family is faced with medical bills and hard times financially in addition to their son’s serious illness.  Adopting a PCH family was an all athletic challenge presented to the Arcadia Sports Teams. Thanks to all of the Boys Soccer players & their families who assisted with this project and helped brighten the holidays for this family in need. WAY TO GO TITANS!

Student Ambassador Club Speaks at Ingleside Middle School

12/5/2017

The Student Ambassador Club is made up of 19 students, a diverse group of sophomores, juniors and seniors.   Our panels of 3-4 students each answer questions from prospective students and parents who attend tours of Arcadia.  Two of the most asked questions are:

What are your classes like?  Are they harder than middle school?   ~short answer:  Arcadia offers Honors, AP and dual enrollment classes for many different subjects as well as 'regular ed' options.  Arcadia's teachers are highly trained and care a lot about students' learning.  Typically, Freshmen do not take AP or dual enrollment classes, but it is possible with an advisor's and  teacher's recommendation.  Every student is assigned to an Arcadia Guidance Counselor when they enter Arcadia, and keep the same counselor throughout four years of high school.  Counselors help navigate required classes as well as electives.

How can students get involved on campus?    ~short answer:  There are many ways to get involved.  There are over 50 clubs on campus (for example: Calculus Club, Key Club, Art Honors Society, Athletic Trainers, Baking Club).  Students can organize a club for just about any interest area.  "Club Rush" is during lunch period each fall where officers host a table, describe what the club is about, and encourage other students to join.  Arcadia also has all of the typical athletic teams, some of which are no-cut sports.  Sports teams are a great way to get to know kids from multiple grade levels.  In addition, Arcadia students have a lot of spirit and fill Chaos Corner, the student section at football games.  All students are invited!
