MOCK ELECTION FOR ALL ARCADIA STUDENTS- NOV. 8, 2016
Arcadia teachers Clayton Guy, Shannon Paloma (and the entire Social Studies dept), the Arcadia Student Politicians Club, StuGo, and the PTO organized a Mock Election for all students on Election Day. Students had the opportunity to vote during Social Studies classes and during the lunch hour. The paper ballot had the following contests/ questions:
Students were the main force behind the success of the on-campus election. ANN publicized the election, club students made individual voting booths for privacy, StuGo counted the ballots and tallied votes as they came in throughout the day, and 80% of Titans took time to vote!
Of the students on campus Nov. 8th, 80% participated in the election!
Trump 450 Clinton 563
Johnson 138 Stein 53
McCain 745 Kirkpatrick 279
Yes 753 No 298
Yes 568 No 374
PTO had more than enough volunteers... actually had to turn some people away. What an amazing community!! During lunch, Mr. Guy and Heidi had volunteers on campus encouraging students to vote and directing them to the voting area in the auditorium. Once inside, volunteers checked ID's and handed out ballots, guided students to open voting booths, monitored voting, and collected ballots.
