VP OF COMMUNICATIONS (two positions)

ARCADIA ONE LUNCH
Coordinate volunteers to assist staff with serving lunch to all Arcadia students. Volunteer duties include (1) working at the outside Titan Carts by selling food and beverages, (2) assisting staff with food/beverage sales at the inside kiosk, or (3) assisting staff in the cafeteria. Time commitment is less than one hour and most volunteers assist every other week and time. Very fun and rewarding volunteer time on campus.
Other notes: This is a fun job and really isn’t that time-consuming once the volunteers are in place.
Campus Tour Coordinator conducts tours for prospective Arcadia students and their families on Thursday mornings.
The Copy Lead is the person in charge of running the copy room & organizing volunteers to make copies throughout the school week. Normally the Copy Lead works with the librarian & about 9 or 10 volunteers to staff each day making copies for the teachers that request them. The copy volunteers pick one shift (morning or afternoon), one day a week. Easy peasy & the teachers are so grateful & appreciative of the service we provide for them. The Copy Lead builds a schedule based on volunteers @ the beginning of the school year. Very minimal time commitment.
The Directory Chair is responsible for inputing new PTO members in our Directory and update the information of existing members. The directory is kept in Excel format. The Directory is then emailed to current PTO members on a quarterly basis.
The Hospitality liaison coordinates drinks and snacks for all PTO General Meetings and the end-of-the-year Senior Awards Ceremony. You will have a budget to purchase the items but it is helpful to get a discount or donation from local businesses for some of the items. You will be provided with a list of dates at the start of the year for planning purposes. Prior to each meeting you will set up the drink and food items and then clean up after the meeting.
The Nurse Liaison coordinates the all day vision and hearing screening for Freshman class. Approx 3-6 hours each day.
The Office Coordinator schedules and communicates with Front Office Volunteers.
Responsibilities of the Front Office Volunteers:
· Welcome and greet our Arcadia community to Arcadia High School (via phone or front door) and assist our office staff.
· Volunteers normally at the front desk Mon-Fri, 8:30 am-1:00 pm
· Volunteers’ shifts anywhere from 1-2 hrs./week or 1-2 hrs./every other week.
The Project Grad volunteer chairperson oversees and coordinates the all night party for Seniors immediately following graduation
in late May. This event planning starts at the beginning of the school year and culminates on graduation night. Responsibilities include fundraising for the event and overseeing all of the committees to include but not be limited to: promotion and registration, prizes, transportation, food, decorations, t-shirts, memory lane posters, boxer bingo and volunteers. In addition to the all night party, the Project Grad committee also hosts the Senior Picnic in the Spring.
SPC (Scottsdale Parent Council) REP
The SPC rep attends the monthly SPC meetings and reports back to the Arcadia PTO about information shared at those meeting, including district news and legislative updates.
The SPC rep is also invited to attend the Arcadia Learning Community meetings, held quarterly and organized by an SPC appointed chair.
The best part of this job is being "in the know" about what is happening across the district, and at the state level regarding education policy. Its's a great way to meet and exchange ideas with parents from other schools.
Time commitment: 2 hrs./month
Organize Staff Breakfast/Luncheons once a month for all Staff at Arcadia. Coordinate the selection of food and request donations of food from other families. Works closely with the Arcadia office staff to reserve room and request necessary items to put on the events. Organizes volunteers to help with set up and clean up. Event dates: August before school breakfast. Monthly staff development day luncheons, Chili luncheon for holiday in December, teacher appreciation week in May. Storage of catering materials is required of the chair person.
TAX CREDIT REP
The Tax Credit Rep is responsible for coordinating and publicizing the Arcadia High School tax credit contribution available to all Arizona taxpayers.
The majority of the time spent on this position falls from September to January just before tax contribution deadline of December 31st
Duties include working with office staff to update, approve, and translate the tax credit contribution form, working with PTO members on eblasts , ANN announcements, social media messaging, updating tax credit information on the PTO website, making posters to publicize credit, and handing out forms a couple mornings during drop off. Another publicity push is made just before April 15th tax deadline.
This is an important position since the funding of so many activities is derived from tax contributions collected but it is also creative and rewarding.
*Hours are flexible and mostly from home.
TEACHER SUPPLY CLOSET
Coordinator stocks supply cabinets with teacher supplies. Hours vary depending on need/time of year...always shopping for deals.
TITAN OF THE MONTH
The Titan of the Month Coordinator(s) organize a lunch for the students who have been named “Titans of the Month." Coordinators also serve pizzas, drinks and cookies and also give each recipient a goody bag filled with treats, a pencil and a keychain. Finally, Titan of the Month Coordinators organize the group picture, have it printed and framed to be displayed at school. The time commitment is approximately 2 hours for each volunteer every month.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with other parents in your child's class for the last time! It brings tremendous satisfaction in knowing that you are helping the graduating Seniors to have a safe, fun filled, last night together to wrap up their high school experience in an extremely positive way!
