Attendance Policy
Regular classroom attendance is an important element to student success.  Students should be absent from school only when absolutely necessary.  Missing the classroom activities, lectures, discussions and participation is detrimental to student success.

School attendance is ultimately the responsibility of the student and the parent.  It is the obligation of the parent. tContact the school attendance office (#480-484-6400) before 3:30 pm on or prior to the actual day of the absenceIf no contact is made to the school within 24 hours, the absence will be considered unexcused.

  • No student may be excused from class by a parent and still remain on campus.
  • Single period absences will only be excused if the reason is for medical, dental or legal reasons.
  • Forgetting ones homework or wanting to go off campus for lunch will not be a valid reason for an excused absence.

Please note when leaving campus during the school day your student will need to sign out at the attendance office and receive a pass from the attendance office allowing the student to leave campus.  Parents, please remember to call the attendance office prior to your child’s scheduled departure. If we do not receive a call from you, we will not release your child

Excessive patterns of excused or unexcused absences or tardies may result in students receiving disciplinary action.  For more information on our attendance policy, please refer to the SUSD Uniform Code of Conduct (p.26 & 27).

Thank you for supporting our attendance policy.

Visitor Policy
One of the most important elements for a successful school is a safe school environment.  The Arcadia High School Administration is working hard to ensure school safety but we NEED YOUR HELP!!!!  If you are planning to visit our campus please make sure you

  • sign in at the Arcadia receptionist desk
  • obtain a visitor pass - ALL visitors must have a visitor pass while on campus.
  • Student visitors will not be allowed on campus during school hours.  They are welcome to visit their former teachers after school hours.

Another safety concern deals with the Arcadia service drive.  We will be locking the gates during school hours.  You still can use part of the service drive for student pick-up and drop-off, but we urge you to follow the traffic flow direction for an easier and safer environment.

Thank you for allowing us to provide your children with a safer school.

Electronic Device Policy (cell phones, iPods, etc.)
In order to prevent the use of electronic devices such as cell phones and music
players from disrupting the education process we have banned their use during school hours.
  • Electronic devices must be turned off from the beginning of first period until the start of the lunch period.
  • They must then be turned off from the end of lunch until the end of the final period.

All teachers and staff are enforcing this policy.  The following steps will be taken if a student uses an electronic device on campus during school hours:

  • Ist Offense: Teacher will confiscate the electronic device and turn it in to the office to be picked up after school.

  • 2nd Offense: Teacher will confiscate the electronic device and turn it in to the office to be picked up the following day after school.
  • 3rd Offense: Teacher will confiscate the electronic device and turn it in to the office to be picked up by a parent/guardian the following day after school.

  • Further Offenses: Teacher will confiscate the electronic device and turn it in to the office to be picked up by a parent/guardian the following day after school.  The student will also serve one day in-school suspension

Dress for Success
Many of the current fashions and trends are not acceptable for school attire. As your child embarks on school shopping ventures, please keep in mind Arcadia’s dress code policy.

Some clothing items unacceptable for school attire:
  • anything advertising inappropriate language or promoting drugs/alcohol
  • sheer tops, tube tops, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, half shirts, muscle shirts or any items that expose undergarments or abdomens

Thank you for your support of our "dress for success" policy.
